Home at Last...

On Saturday, Geoff and I loaded up a U-Haul trailer with six years worth of my life and prepared to say goodbye to a town that's blessed us with priceless memories and countless smiles.

After six years, 72 Gator football games, 14 dinners at Dragonfly, and approximately 30,000 miles driving back and forth to see each other, Geoff and I are finally together for the long haul!

We picked up the trailer at 7:30 in the morning and finally hit the road at 6 p.m.--Geoff attributes the long day to what he considers to be my substandard packing abilities, as he constantly referred to me as "the slow packer." But regardless, we finally loaded the last box and slowly made the drive from Gainesville to Sunrise.

We detoured to Sarasota to see my Dad and step-mom, where they treated us to a celebratory champagne toast and a yummy spaghetti dinner. We hadn't seen them for a while, so it was nice to spend some time with them and just relax after a long day.

Then on Sunday, we hit the highway early and headed for Jupiter to unload some of my furniture that we won't have space for until we get a bigger place in October. As always, Geoff's parents were incredibly helpful and we enjoyed having lunch with them before FINALLY getting back on the road for Sunrise.

After a few days of unpacking, decorating, cleaning and organizing, I'm finally settled in here and it already feels like home...

If Home is Where the Heart is...
by John McLeod

If Home is where the heart is
Then may your Home be blessed
A shelter from the storms of life
A place of rest,
And when each day is over
And toil put in its place
Your Home's dear warmth
Will bring its smile
To light the saddest face!

My guys...

Loving that only the most important men in my life are following the blog so far! You guys are the BEST!!

I'm getting very excited for the BIG move on Saturday...hope Geoff is prepared to accept how much stuff I was able to accumulate in six years!

Check back this weekend for a summary of how things are going. I'm anticipating moving day to be more comical than stressful, but I'll have to let you know about that later...

I'm still trying to find a wedding venue in south Florida. But I have a lot of great friends who are making the search much easier on me! I'm sure we will find someplace beautiful to say our "I Do's"!

Until next time...

The Journey Begins...

What a whirlwind of a week this has been! On Sunday, August 1, 2010, Geoff arranged the most romantic proposal on beautiful Blowing Rocks Beach in Jupiter, Florida. I'm still sitting on Cloud 9 and feel so blessed that the love of my life walked into my world...and even better, that he chose to stay there! We are so excited for what our future holds!

Since the engagement, I've been busy making phone calls to friends and family...which reminds me, I used up all my cell phone minutes within about four hours after the proposal, so unless you have Verizon, I regret to report I won't be able to answer your calls until after the 12th of August. I've also stayed busy driving, working, editing, packing, and hardly sleeping. To say I'm blissfully happy would be an understatement--happy, but sleep deprived...getting engaged is exhausting (but in the most delightful of ways, of course)!

This weekend will be spent packing up my condo in Gainesville and preparing for my BIG move to Sunrise. Geoff will be up next weekend, U-haul in tow, to help! Im so excited! But in the meantime, I have to pack six years worth of stuff into boxes and then somehow figure out how it will all fit in our tiny one-bedroom apartment...minor details.

Anyway, we'll be posting more stuff about our wedding plans here over the next few months. So stay tuned.

Thanks to all of our friends and family who have so graciously offered their love, blessings, and congratulations. We are looking forward to sharing this joyous time in our lives with all of you!

P.S. If you know anything about wedding planning and would like to move to South Florida to become my wedding planner for the next nine months, I can compensate you with good company and cheap chardonnay...think about it.
